Like many UB40 songs, it is attributed to the whole group, the song was written by Terence Wilson, better known by his stage name Astro who was part of the English reggae band UB40 since it was founded in 1978 until he left the group in November 2013.
When asked by Astro if he has any ideas for new songs he replied, "Oh God, I don't care about the album for a minute, I've got a rat in the kitchen!". Astro, who sings lead vocals on the song, wrote the track in response.
