The track was originally created by Spiller in 1999 as an instrumental, with no singing. In order to make the track more palatable for airplay, Positiva asked British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, formerly with indie rock band theaudience, to provide lyrics and vocals for the song.
In 1998 the Italian DJ/producer Cristiano Spiller visited a Miami nightclub called Groovejet. He was inspired and returned home to create an instrumental record in its honor based around the bass line of an obscure 1977 disco track, "Love Is You" by Carol Williams.
