This song makes the point that some members of the US police force were, and possibly still are, members of the Ku Klux Klan ("Some of those who wear forces are the same that burn crosses").

"Killing in the name" is featured on one of the Rock radio stations in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Rage Against The Machine performed at Woodstock '99.
