The song is very popular in European football stadiums, even becoming the unofficial anthem of Italy's World Cup win in 2006 and was used in both Euro 2008, when the teams walked onto the pitch at the start of the game and in Euro 2012 and in U-21 Euro 2013, when it was played when a goal was scored.
Jack White (lead singer) has stated that he was saving the song's guitar riff in case he was ever asked to do a James Bond theme song. Eventually White concluded that such an offer was unlikely and decided to incorporate the riff into a White Stripes song instead.
