This was inspired by the concept of the European Community. The EC's star symbol is tattooed on vocalist Mick Hucknall's arm.

The Stars album and particularly this song marked a comeback by Simply Red, who had been in decline after hitting it big in 1985. In fact, many consider this LP to be their best work.
