The song is Hoobastank's most commercially successful single, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the Modern Rock Tracks. Also won the MTV Video Music Awards Japan for best rock video.

The Reason is the only Hoobastank's pop rock song, the others songs of the band always has been considered post grunge, or alternative rock.
